This track was co-written by Ashton and Rama Cheromaya. The first part of the song is from a poem Rama wrote years ago. Ashton found it in one of their shared journals and because their handwriting is so similar, thought it was a song she was writing and continued writing as though it was hers. The result is a stunning co-creation weaving deep esoteric truth with hypnotic, undulating melody and backed with a sweet ass beat.
Recorded live off the floor at Old Growth Studio on Salt Spring Island.
The start is a seed in the ground alone, darkness surrounds.
In the silence she finds a place that swells and begins to quake.
Life can no longer wait! Soon roots hatch and latch into the dark from which she came raising her head to meet the sun. Spring has begun. Bring what you can, I'll hold you up. I'll tell you stories while you fill your cup, we'll get to know each other; remember one another.
It could be the moon pulling my waters. It could be that Earth is all of our Mothers but in this life here, we're all in this together.
Seize the day. Carry on your way. Show your colours, don't shy away. Earth, Wind, Rain and Sun. Love, Health, Art and Freedom. I am so blessed to be here now.
Ride the wave, cradle to the grave. Show me your colours, don't shy away.
The end is a death, darkness takes in; from that place new life begins. It is a perfect circle, no beginning no end.
